A lovely vintage Kashmiri egg shaped trinket box made in Northern India.Handcrafted from lacquered Paper Mache and painted by hand in tones of red, green and gold. 

  • Lacquer hand painted box with flowers in pinks, reds, blues, and yellows on a background of green toned leaves. The flowers and leaves are outlined with fine golden paint for a colourful and delicate effect.

  • "Kashmiri papier-mâché is a handicraft of Kashmir that was brought by Muslims saint Mir Sayyid Ali Hamadani from Persia in the 14th century. It is based primarily on paper pulp, and is a richly decorated, colourful artifact; generally in the form of vases, bowls, or cups (with and without metal rims), boxes, trays, bases of lamps, and many other small objects. These are made in homes, and workshops, in Srinagar, and other parts of the Kashmir Valley
