Vintage Reverse Painted Glass Floral Cajamarca Wall Mirror with Wood Backing and Hanger 1960's Souvenir Peru This style of painting flowers on the reverse side of glass originated in the early 1900's in Cajamarca, one of the first Spanish settlements in northern Peru, where the original artisans were inspired by the local flora. After the wood backing and glass are cut to the desired shape, the design is outlined on the glass in ink and filled in using watercolors and a gold paint called purpurina.
