The initial process of “blocking out” the basic shape with chainsaws, is followed by further shaping with a grinder to refine the form. A sander is then used to flatten the surfaces, which is the last of the shaping processes and is when the whole affair becomes “touchy feely”.

  • Further sanding produces a wonderfully smooth, skin like finish, which is almost sensuous to the touch. I’ve found that most people can’t resist the temptation to run their hands over the surfaces to see if it actually feels as tactile as it looks.

  • After being felled for safety reasons this 300 year old Ash tree was destined to be processed for fire wood. I always have a great feeling of satisfaction when a piece is finished, knowing that instead of going up in smoke, the tree will hopefully give many more years of pleasure in its new form.

  • This wood sculpture is Intricately carved and covered in an overall aged patina and standing upon an integral triangular platform base, this is a wonderful example from centuries old tradition of wood carving.

Age-commensurate surface wear, losses to base fading , otherwise very good. Nice old aged wood patina throughout.
